Toddler Nutrition and Fussy Eating

Do you want tips and tricks to help with your toddler's nutrition?

Toddlers can be unpredictable. One day they adore bananas, the next day they can't stand them and they tell you all about it - "YUCK!"  It can leave you feeling perplexed, frustrated, and at times, downright exhausted.

Don't worry, this week on The Expert Guide to Parenthood podcast we welcome back our Paediatrician Expert Dr Lexi Frydneberg to talk all about toddler nutrition and how to help them have a healthy diet by providing you with practical advice to navigate this delightful, albeit challenging, phase of parenting.

Dr Lexi is an experienced general pediatrician specialising in the care of children (and their families) from birth-eighteen who experience a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions (or clinical conditions).

She is also a passionate educator and mother of 3 and fellow podcaster.

We ask Dr Lexi:
- What does a balanced toddler diet look like?
- What is fussy eating? (How do we know what is general toddler behaviour, and what is actual fussy eating)
- How to make sure fussy toddlers get enough nutrition (and how do you know they are getting enough)
- How to handle general refusal to eat (not specific dislike of food)
- How to encourage toddlers to try new things
- What to do when your toddler throws their food on the floor and says 'yuck'
- Calcium requirements while weaning and how to meet these
- Iron requirements and how do we meet these (particularly with picky eaters)?
- Do you have any creative ways/suggestions to encourage toddlers to eat fruit and vegetables?
- One week my child likes something the next they don't. How do we help them to stay consistent? Should we make another meal if they don't like the one served?
- What should toddlers be drinking and how much?
